We’re proud to announce that one lucky user has just uploaded DivShare’s 2 millionth file! It’s a great milestone for us, and with more than 137,000 registered users uploading 12,000 new files every day, there are a lot more big announcements in our future. We’re well on the way to settling down in new Silicon Valley offices, making big hardware improvements and launching a ton of cool new products and features. It’s been a great nine months so far, and the rest of the year will be even better.

On the upgrades front, we have been keeping close track of your comments, concerns and support questions this week as we ramp up our network of servers to handle DivShare’s ever-growing traffic. We agree with you — reliability and speed are of the utmost importance to our service, and we’re working hard to bring all of our current servers up to speed (and keep them there). The server upgrades will not be an overnight process, but we’ve already added a number of new machines and will be making huge improvements to our network over the next few weeks. This will allow us to handle not just our usual traffic growth, but the surges that we expect in the near future.

In the meantime, we’ve improved the preparation of our datacenter staff to immediately handle any speed or accessibility problems that occur on any of our servers, so these issues will be fixed quickly and with minimal downtime. We know how important it is that you have access to your files and media at all times, and we’re working night and day to ensure that you do.

Great news — we are proud to announce that DivShare has more than 100,000 registered users! It’s a huge milestone for us, and the site is getting more and more popular every day. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing new upload tools and new Flash multimedia players, and putting a big investment into our server farm to make your DivShare experience as speedy and seamless as it can be. It’s a big day for DivShare — we’re nearing our six-month anniversary, and in that time we’ve built a base of more than 75,000 members who have uploaded nearly a million files. Tonight, we’re proud to introduce a brand new version of the site — redesigned, packed with new features and improved all around. We’re launching at midnight ET.

The biggest news is our new premium plan, DivShare Direct. It allows you to link directly to your files — with no download pages — and provides an unparalleled level of customization for the Flash video, audio and slideshow players you can embed on your own site. Plans start at less than 5 bucks a month, and include all our current premium upload features, like 2 GB file size and FTP access.

We’ve also done a full redesign of the site, focusing on simplicity and usability the whole way through. As part of that mission, a few features have been retired — most notably groups, profiles and inboxes/favorites. We’re also adding a bunch of options to the dashboard to keep you organized — you can switch to icon and thumbnail view, sort your folders alphabetically, and browse automatic categories like Images, Documents and Video. The new design, improved organization and awesome new premium options really move DS toward our goal in life: to be the smart, simple web host for everyone.

This is cool, but the even cooler part is that we are about to launch a ton of cool new features, including an Inbox, Archive and Favorites section of your dashboard that allows you to easily track files that others have sent to you, or files that you’ve found on DS and want to keep for later.
