A great plug from Lifehacker today, which listed DivShare among the best Facebook apps to improve productivity online.
There are thousands of Facebook apps floating around out there, most of them about as useful as a fish on a bicycle. However, there are some diamonds among the coal - and these are the ones you can use to launch your Facebook profile into the efficiency stratosphere.
Today we’re rolling out a really cool enhancement to our Facebook app — you can now attach any DivShare file to a post on your friend’s walls! This means that, for the first time on Facebook, you can attach a Flash video, a playable MP3, an image or any other file to anyone’s wall.
It’s as easy as clicking the “Add Attachment” button on your friend’s wall, then choosing the DivShare “Attach a File” option. From there, you can upload any file that you’d normally post to DivShare — videos, audio, and anything else — and it will be displayed right below the post on your friend’s wall. We’ll automatically convert Flash videos and display our Flash MP3 player, and images will appear in thumbnail form. For all other files, you’ll see a link to their download page.
We’re really excited to be the first app to truly take advantage of the new wall attachments, which Facebook just launched this morning. Check out the DivShare Application, add it to your account, and start adding media to your friends’ walls. Enjoy!
More application features: Over the next few days we’ll be adding the Flash video/audio players for files you post on your profile, and building a mini-dashboard within Facebook so that you can manage your files using that interface, as well as post previously uploaded files to messages and walls.
Great news — we are proud to announce that DivShare has more than 100,000 registered users! It’s a huge milestone for us, and the site is getting more and more popular every day. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing new upload tools and new Flash multimedia players, and putting a big investment into our server farm to make your DivShare experience as speedy and seamless as it can be. Stay tuned!
Today we’re proud to release the sleek, sexy new Flash slideshow design, which we’ve been working on and plugging here on the blog over the past couple weeks. The new design allows the image to take up the entire space of the embed, and adds a sleek navigation system and some cool controls that appear only when you hover over the embed. It also includes an “autoplay” button, which allows your viewers to watch the slideshow roll without clicking to see each new image. Check it out:
This player will automatically replace your old ones, so you won’t have to make any changes to your code. Don’t forget that there’s a free month of DivShare Direct for all new upgrades this weekend, and leave all your Flash slideshow comments below. Next up, we have a really cool Flash uploader that you can embed into your own sites — we’ll provide more details as we get closer to release.
Great news! To celebrate the weekend, we’re giving away a free month of DivShare Direct to all new signups. The offer starts tonight (Friday) at midnight ET and runs through the end of the day on Sunday. Here’s what you get with the Direct plan:
• Your logo on your Flash video, audio and slideshows
• 2 GB max file size
• Direct links to your files — no download pages!
• Your own FTP account
• Unlimited storage and bandwidth for whichever files you choose
To check it out, visit the DivShare Direct page. Also coming today is a new Flash slideshow player, so check that out soon. Enjoy!
Less than 24 hours after launching the DivShare Facebook App, 160 people have added the application, and bloggers are diggin’ it. Here’s what people are saying:
Another recent leader in the race to Facebook is DivShare. They have jumped on board and added the ability to send documents, photos, music and videos to friends in Facebook. With the DivShare Facebook application users can choose to send files to individuals, post them in profiles or add them to news feeds. It’s an easy way to share files to people in a network.
You can post your files to the news feed – if there’s something you want all of your friends to see like a video, song, or image, this is the perfect way to notify the masses.
Make sure you add the application, if you haven’t already, and stay tuned to the blog for some big announcements in the next few days.

Hey all, thanks for being a part of DivShare. As you have noticed if you’ve logged on in the last few days, we are running some maintenance on our servers to upgrade our system to support a recent surge in traffic. If we have more significant downtime on the way, we’ll alert you here as far in advance as possible — in the meantime, some of our servers are a little overloaded pending the new hardware being set up, but the site itself should be in good shape and all your files should be accessible.
If you run into any specific issues, please let us know at support@divshare.com. By the end of the week, we’ll have new servers up and running in an expanded datacenter, and DivShare will be smokin’ fast again. We’re very sorry for this inconvenience, and we thank you for helping DivShare grow at such an amazing pace. Happy 4th to all our American users, and don’t hesitate to drop us a line with any questions.
Update: New servers are in, and we’re all good. Sorry again for the inconvenience.
