just a question. why is the video conversion taking so long. to think the videos are less than 20mb each. As far as I remember the last time I uploaded a video here, the conversion just took around less than five minutes. are you guys experiencing this also?

I am a new member of Divshare though I have downloaded a small number of files in the past. I understand that lots of work is occurring on the site but those who complain of loads of problems have a legitimate point. I just read Tuesday's message concerning upgrades. It is now Saturday morning here. Still, days after this work has been done, behavior is occurring that makes it appear that the site is not functioning whether it actually is or not. In a number of tests, after going to the home page and following the Dashboard link, between ten and fifteen seconds are required before the Dashboard page finishes loading. I saw the same kind of delay at least twice when trying to open the blog page. I tried downloading a file I placed on Divshare and the download went properly with a good speed and a full, uninterrupted download so this does not appear to be a capacity problem. I don't know how sites are beta tested, though I do know something about beta testing products. Having said that, it appears to me that those who complain about problem after problem have a point. There must be a better way to improve a site than this. I've only been a member since about Tuesday and I have not seen the site work smoothly over an extended period.

This is not to depreciate the work and effort of those who run the site. But there must be a better way. On Friday, as another example, I wanted to upload a file but couldn't do so. I was unable to even get to the home page of the site. I waited perhaps fifteen or twenty seconds while my browser displayed the opening page message on the status line. If I had let the browser sit ten or twenty or thirty more seconds, I don't know what might have happened.

I have written these comments both to substantiate comments made by others as to problems and to express my strong disagreement with those who engage in personal attacks on those who are critical. Maybe those people need to learn to engage in discussions without ad hominam (spelling) arguments) and disparaging others' well reasoned observations.

Am I the only person who gets a bunch of 500 errors when even just trying to navigate the site?

If you've forgotten more than we all will ever know, then how can you question upgrading? I'm sure in your magical world, every upgrade goes without a hitch.

I don't question upgrading...I question upgrading without thorough testing. Using your customers as unwilling beta testers is not good practice.
