Flash player tweaks and server upgrades

Today we’re rolling out updates for the Flash video and slideshow players to fix a few problems with video length and slideshow navigation. You won’t need to make any changes to your embed code for these to take effect, but if you’ve been noticing any problems with short videos or long slideshows, this should take care of them.

We’re also adding new application servers to the network this weekend to improve page load times, which have been slow or unreliable for the past couple days. We’ll be rolling out that upgrade tomorrow (Saturday), so you should see a huge improvement over the weekend. Our download servers, which we upgraded last week, are all running at top speed now. Thanks for being a part of DivShare’s rapid growth, and stay tuned for lots more updates and new features on the way. Have a great weekend, and enjoy the faster site!

Miraculous improvement in both slideshow operation and speed too!!

Well done indeed - hope this standard can be maintained.

In fact - had another look - and the slides are wizzing past so fast now that you might have to put a braking control on the slideshow so not to miss seeing some!

  4. DivShare Upgrade on WordpressMU at The LOdown Says:

[…] With DivShare’s latest Flash player tweaks and server upgrades I became confident enough in DivShare’s system to upgrade the NotSorry blogs (powered by WordpressMU) with the DivShare Wordpress uploader plugin. NotSorry bloggers can now upload as many pictures, videos, audios, and documents as they’d like with an uploading interface arguably easier to use than the standard Wordpress interface. […]

Wondering if there is any thought of implementing the new features of Flash Player 9 “Movistar”? Support for streaming h.264 content without the need to convert your files. I could only imagine that this would be the next best thing that DivShare could integrate!! No more FLV files and double converting!

    Thanx in Advance,

Hmmm - seems to have slowed down somewhat again. On many image slideshows it starts off OK once the buffer has loaded - but in due course it overtakes the buffer and tends to freeze up.

Since the slideshows play somewhat too quickly (anyone agree the slideshow displays each frame for too short a time?) - could I suggest divSare that you increase, by a little, the time each frame displays for. That should make for a more pleasant viewing experience - but importantly - make it much less likely that the slideshow would overtake the buffer.

i dont want to be picky or anything but you keep going on about all these improvments and i cant see any. i live in the uk and almost every day during the daytime i cant access my divshare files on my web site or even log onto divshare. this has been going on for months now, i know you do maintenance work during your off peak hours but the rest of the world doesnt run to the same times as the usa believe it or not!!. i keep thinking about upgrading but i’m not going to pay for a service that cant deliver 24/7 - please do something about all this down time, its going to drive people away.
