Flash Video and Audio: Upgraded and Redesigned
Great news! Tonight we’re rolling out a redesigned Flash MP3 player and some cool tweaks to the video player that will make your DivShare embeds even better. We’ve also got some really cool stuff in store for you over the next week in this department, so stay tuned. First up, the new MP3 player:
Obviously the visual redesign brings it in line with our Flash video design, which is cool. Behind the scenes, we’ve also dramatically simplified the embed code, which will make it a lot easier for you to add the audio player to your site. And we’ve also added an option that makes it easy to grab the embed code from the Flash player — just click that “< >” icon to copy the code to your clipboard for transfer to another site. (We also know that a few people might not want this feature, so we’ll be adding an account preference to disable it tomorrow.)
Next up, videos. We’ve added the automatic embed code here as well and spruced up some of the other functionality for some added hotness. Here’s an example from our friends over at GnarStar.tv:
As you can see, the new embed code tool is in there too. Also, for both players, you can add the autoplay feature very easily, and there’s a lot less code to parse through. Just find this snippet, which appears in the code twice —
http://www.divshare.com/flash/video?myId=669729-226
Then add &autoplay=true to the end.
We’ve also got a new Flash slideshow embed cooking, so we’ll release that over the next couple days. Stay tuned for a ton of upgrades, a redesign, new features and new premium options soon. And if you visited the site in the last 24 hours, thanks for being a part of DivShare’s highest-traffic day ever. Happy uploading!

Very nice improvements, How about Playlist?
June 7th, 2007 at 12:38 am
Hey Herbert, actually I forgot to mention that our next big upgrade to the MP3 player is going to be a playlist feature. Watch out for that in the next week or two.

I’m having problems with the autoplay feature. I’ve added “&autoplay=true” in the correct place, but it wont automatically play

THANKS FOR THE NEW VIDEO PLAYER. It rocks, no more waiting for the video to bluffer finish before we can start playing the video~!
Can’t wait for the Playlist feature!!!

Cool… But instead on just releasing updates to you current plugins you should work on speed. DivShare can be quite slow (at least here in Switzerland) and that’s kind of sad…
June 7th, 2007 at 6:43 am
And the slideshow still will not work if one has uploaded original full-size photos (either at 6MP or 10MP). Works with smaller copies - but really do not want to upload downsized as well as original photos.
And I agree - concentrate on speed first, speed second, speed third - then go back to improving features once divShare is lightning fast!
Incidentally I am in France.
Some of the speed issues are not actually download slowness - rather the processing time at divShare end - producing what is being served. But there is certainly download slowness as well! Both need sorting.

I will definitely wait for that feature Rob, Keep up the good job!

Hey whats good whats hood I liked the old audio player more. It had rounded edges which led me to believe it was far more high tech than the new boxy looking interface.
If u don’t round the corners back off were going to have issues. Serious issues.

Iam also having problems with the autoplay to.

Its great that you updated the look of the players. What would be so would be if people had the option of several different players. That way everyone would be happy and you could add new designs as well.
I have been looking for a great photo show embed for my organizations website. No has been able to do it right. Maybe you guys can. Website owners are looking for an overall photo albums feature such as expose4 (http://slooz.com/trinkets.php?proj=expose). It would be great to be able to show albums separately in individual embeds and also the way expose4 does it.
Good job guys!

I’m a convert from YouTube, just moved over and i have to say i like what i’m seeing so far.
The look of the MP3 player and Vid Player is great, nice and sleek. Though as Asad said, having the option for choice would be even better.
On the speed side of things i noticed it being a bit slow compared with YouTube, but it’s nothing i can’t live with.
One thing that i find i do miss, and i hope its something you have planned, is a plugin for offline blog editors.
My blog posts have around 15-29 images a time, screen caps from the shows im reviewing. Would be excellent if there was a plugin that could be added to the software so that i dont have to manually upload everything, then add the code. Just import the pics into the program using the plugin, and it does the rest for me. Much like the YouTube one.
The program i use the most, is windows live writer, it currently has a YouTube and off site image importer. Would be greate if DivShare could either work with the creator of the YouTube one, or make one of your own

i like the look of the flash video player alot, and i’m sure it would be great if i was posting long videos (10+ minutes), but for short clips, it suffers from a design catastrophe: it virtually eliminates thet last 2 or 3 seconds of the video by placing that logo/play again thing on it. i’m all for branding, and i like your site alot (every time i’m hanging out with venture capitalist, i say something like, “say google was a nice investment and all, but check out divshare!” but then i’m a hooker so they rarely listen***joke…***
thanks for your site,
arendt
p.s. here’s an example:

ok, here’s an example:

Hey arendt, I’m gonna have to start using that one next time I’m chillin’ with a venture capitalist. As for the ending of the video player, that looks like an unintended bug, so we’ll look into it and fix it in our next update. Rock on.
June 7th, 2007 at 7:59 pm
Nice. I really like the smaller design of the mini-player. It would be even better if we could change the colors on it. I need something that will look good on a black background.
Thanks!
June 8th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
I don’t know am I only one with this problem, but this blue text on black background (on bottom of audio and video player) is very hard for reading. I must to get head close to monitor in needing to read it. So, is there any way to make this text readable?
Also I have suggestion for this “” icon: wouldn’t it be best if one half (doesn’t mater left or right) be for copying embed code and other for copying direct link to page for that file on DivShare site?
I expect you’ll answer on this comment.
June 8th, 2007 at 9:22 pm
Oh no, my comment was not posted even though I’ve tried to post it 3 times. I was suggesting the multiple files continuous play… part1, part2, part3 being played continuously, preloading the other videos even before the first part is finished for a smooth playing divided movie. (making it look like a full movie).
Hope my comment get posted now…

Yes! Success!
June 9th, 2007 at 11:21 am
I love the new design, but all the mp3’s that I had uploaded stopped working. The players in my forums say “Sorry, can’t find file”
June 9th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
Hi nahuel, we’ll contact you by e-mail to check out your problem in more detail.
June 9th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
I like the new look of the player, but I also had the same problems as Nahuel did. I had to upgrade all the links for my Live Journal, but I have them fixed now.
BTW when are you going set the video up for converting and streaming real player files? Thanks for a great service, just make sure you let us know before you make big changes like this.
June 9th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
Hi guys,
Sorry about those errors with the old player. We accidentally replaced the old player with the new player last night during an upgrade — but now it should be back and working again, with the old players intact. Sorry for the inconvenience and downtime this caused, and let us know if you run into any more issues.

Like the others, I wish for speed. It takes such a long time to buffer and to be able to watch the videos from the website I’ve embedded it. I takes just as long when I try to watch my video at the screen at the download page here.
Thanks!!! The screen looks nice except for the big play button. Making it a little smaller will be more proportional to the screen.
June 12th, 2007 at 2:05 am
autoplay works now. yay!
June 12th, 2007 at 7:38 am
Are there any parameters which will allow us to start/stop playback at given times? Or perhaps a list of tweakable flashparams?
June 12th, 2007 at 9:09 am
ohh man i have to redesign my whole site again coz of new mp3 design. The big problem is it doesn’t show what we are playing like mp3 song name and the mp3 player design sucks previous one was better plz restore the old design or just add file name into mp3 design plz plz plz…

I have directed friends to my profile to download stuff, but my problem is, even though I have selected many files for public display, there is no way to see files that not on the profile. The profile only displays a random 4 files of the 20-30 I have selected for public display. Any idea how display all of the files that are supposed to be available or is there a way for people to browse?

please allow direct links of the flash video files so we can embed them on other flash players such as the popular Jeroenwijering player… cause i dont like the flash player interface for divshare. other than that great job.
