Unlimited drag-and-drop upload for everyone!
Since it’s a beautiful day, we’re opening up the Power Uploader to everyone — so now, you don’t have to be a Pro member to upload more than 10 files at a time. It’s great for uploading full folders, image galleries, or for any other big project. Hit us up in the comments as always, and check it out on the Power Upload page. Enjoy!

Fair enough! But could we have an up to date list of the benefits of pro membership over free membership (since this was one of the benefits to pay for!).
How about a new benefit to offset - perhaps an automatic way of keeping a few selected folders on ones desktop automatically synched to matching folders on divShare?

Could we have sub-folders for uploading?
it seems no way to build sub-folder in the dashboard.
May 23rd, 2007 at 2:54 pm
Subfolders, please! And give me a way to keep my main Dashboard page clean of any files, assuming they’re all tagged for folders.
May 23rd, 2007 at 3:54 pm
Yes, subfolders would be excellent, not just for Power Uploader, but for creating in account, because it’s much easear (and logical) to organize files like that!!
May 23rd, 2007 at 6:59 pm
regarding folders, it would be very useful if the folder names wouldn’t be truncated in the left pane. something like a variable width pane would make for a much improved user interface of the dashboard.
i agree with the people that want subfolders. they would really make organizing of files much easier.

oh i forgot to mention how awesome the removal of the upload count is. great job! my hat is off to the folks at divshare.

@diverdan
Hi, please what does this mean:
“how awesome the removal of the upload count is”
My English isn’t very good so I do not understand what you mean. Please explain.
Thanx

to arturo:
sorry for any confusion. what i meant was that i was excited that the 10 file upload limit had been removed when using the power uploader for non-pro users. in the past one had to have a pro account in order upload unlimited files at one time.
hope this helps.
May 24th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
THANX diverdan
NOW I do understand what you mean. As I said, my Englisch in not the best. Do U use Skype, please let me know, I wanna discuss something with some other members but not publicly.

I love it! I don’t have to upload and upload again, but I hope we can choose if we want our files to be uploaded privately or publicly by default.
But there was a problem I encountered when uploading large files or now soon to be because of too many files being uploaded… the problem was my cookie expired even before the files were fully uploaded and the server gave me a message that I don’t have a permission to upload to my folder and just as I thought, I am already logged out.
I also want to suggest like a auto sensing public or private settings, say for example if I uploaded twice in the same folder and uses private settings, then the server will set the remaining uploads to private by default, the same way if I want to upload files publicly or just simply if the folder has all files in private settings, then any future uploads to that folder would be understood as private the same way to publicly set folders.
Regards to all,
Herbert

Hi!
This is excellent news, I was trying to find a way of doing that for uploading like a ton of images to DivShare :).
By the way, is there a way of downloading every single file in a folder with just one click? I think it would be very helpful for downloading image galleries and the like…
Keep up with your good work, this is by far THE BEST site of this kind in the whole web!
May 26th, 2007 at 9:07 am
Yeah I agree with Apollo that would be a very good idea, like the gmail feature, zip all (selected or file or folder) and download in one file, including the directory trees.
May 26th, 2007 at 9:09 pm
What the heck did you do to divshare? I can’t get to my files. the Search doesn’t work like it did a couple of days ago, and it looks totally different! I don’t like it!

For some reason now the site is messed up on Firefox, and only works in IE. That really sucks because I mostly use Firefox, IE has toooo many security holes. Whatever you did, change it back.

Further thoughts on upload difficulties -
In essence I actually prefer Power Uploader to ftp uploading since it is a one-stage process and the folder is formed at the time of uploading.
On the divshare ftp page all files are listed with the folder structure stripped away (a divShare bad-habit!). This means that not only is ftp uploading a time consuming two stage process (first get files to ftp account, then get files from there onto divShare proper) - but all files are scrambled together on the ftp page (no folders) making this process less than straightforward if one has uploaded files intended for a number of destination folders.
However - using power uploader is flawed too because it seems to fail part way through most times if one tries to upload a big batch of files - say 100. When it fails after, say 80, files have been uploaded - why on earth are all files lost? Surely each individual file is a discrete entity so it should be possible to arrange that the folder is successfully formed at divShare containing all files that had been uploaded up to that point - this would at least mean that the whole operation had not been wasted, and the remaining files could then be added to the folder subsequently.
Better still make power uploader really reliable.
And with ftp - I would like an option where folders automatically were formed on divShare dashboard containing the same files one had in selected matching folders on one’s desktop computer - no manual messing about.

divshare is great and i have been teeling everyone online but lately i have been having problems uploading?? is there a limit for free users?? also the power uploader or even the normal one never work when i try and upload a big file like 60mb?? i have had to resort to uploading some files to another website which i dont like because i cant keep track of it and there not in my dashboard with all other files i upload
May 31st, 2007 at 3:41 am
I agree - divShare is great, with brilliant ideas and features to use IF ONLY one could get ones files there in the first place. Unfortunately getting large, (or large numbers of) files uploaded fails much more often than not.
Also with image files as shot - even jpg - at about 4MB each, I cannot get the slideshow to work at all.

You guys ROCK!! You are AWESOME!! This site is the best one on the internet.
I’ve only encountered one minor problem. When I put an embeded mp3 on my site, I have to remove the object tag cos it won’t work with IE.. I don’t mind doing it though… keep up the amazing job!

I agree, there should be some way to connect to the divshare server from your desktop
June 6th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
Yeah i’m having the exact same probs as Jeremy and Aaron, except worse, today i tried uploading 40mb of about 40 X 1mb image jpegs and it failed. I dont get it, why cant the feature just work, power uploader that is, i just have no idea, and its so frustrating because this IS the best site for file hosting on the net, its just the features implemented dont function as they should, its one big thing that needs to be worked out and solved as quick as possible. The sub-folders idea would be even better too, would x-dimensional arrays be able to solve this sub-folder idea?
Hope this new update coming shortly sorts things out!

Power upload locked up - using firefox - went back to manual multiple - happened on upload command.
Subfolders in groups and within folders would be great for keeping organized.
