DivShare Pro: FTP Uploads, Files up to 2 GB each!
We’ve been rolling out a ton of cool features, and we’ve got a lot more in store for you over the coming weeks. Today, we’ve got a big announcement — we’re proud to launch DivShare Pro, the premium plan that makes DivShare more powerful than ever. As with every new feature, Pro is all about freedom and simplicity.
We’ve got two payment plans to fit everyone’s style, and DivShare Pro is all about adding new features — everything that’s already free will stay that way. The Pro package comes with these huge upgrades:
FTP Uploads
A lot of our power users have requested FTP uploads, and now it’s a reality. Every Pro user gets his or her own unique FTP login, and you can upload all your files with your favorite FTP client and then add them to your DivShare account with a single click.Files up to 2 GB each
Yes, that’s 10 times our current maximum file size! With the DivShare Pro subscription plan, you can share and store unlimited files up to 2 GB each, and with the flexible pay-per-file plan, you can pay just 99¢ a file to send anything up to 2 gigs. (More on that below.)Unlimited Files with the Power Uploader
With the Pro subscription, you’ll be able to upload as many files as you can pack into the Power Uploader, making a great solution for uploading big image galleries, entire folders of documents or files, and every other job that’s far too big to pick your files 5 or 10 at a time.
And just like everyone at DivShare, our Pro users enjoy unlimited downloads, files that stay online forever (no expiration, ever!), easy image galleries and Flash video, and, of course, no pop-up ads or spam. It’s an amazing deal, and it’s about to get even better. Check out the affordable, flexible pricing:
Why commit to a monthly fee when you only need to send a couple files at a time? Everyone can take advantage of our pay-per-file plan — there’s no risk, no commitment, and it doesn’t get any cheaper. You get FTP access, 2 GB file size, unlimited downloads and no expiration for your file.
If you want to hit the big time, we offer another unbeatable price — less than 10 bucks a month for unlimited 2 GB uploads, FTP access, unlimited files in the Power Uploader, and, of course, unlimited downloads and files that stay online forever.
In the world of personal web hosting, it doesn’t get better than this. Grabbing your own DivShare Pro account is just a few clicks away — get started on the order page now. To learn more about all the new features, read on past the jump.
Subscribing or Buying Upload Credits
Ordering file upload credits or a subscription is a cinch — just head over to the order page and pick your poison. You can buy anywhere from 1 to 10 individual files at just 99¢ each, or subscribe for $9.95 a month to enjoy unlimited 2 GB uploads. After that, just fill out the familiar PayPal payment form with your credit card or account info, and you’re in business! You’ll get your receipt via e-mail in a few seconds, and your account will be upgraded immediately.
We’ll also be introducing another credit card processing system in the next week or two, since we know that some of our international users aren’t covered by PayPal. In the meantime, the vast majority of you should have no problem.
Uploading with FTP
FTP, or file transfer protocol, provides a flexible and reliable way to send huge files to the DivShare server. We’ll give you a unique login, and you get your own space on our upload server to send all your files our way, up to 2 GB at a time. Once you’re done uploading, head over to your dashboard and click the “Upload with FTP” link — you’ll then see a list of all the files currently in your FTP account. From there it’s easy to add descriptions and put them in a folder or group, and with one click they’re online!
Unlimited Power Uploading
We introduced the Power Uploader last week as a cool, visual way to surf through all the files on your local computer and easily add them to DivShare. It uses Java and ActiveX to display an interface just like My Computer on your PC, and you can view thumbnails of all your images and drag and drop your files directly to your upload list. Free users can only upload 10 files at a time with the Power Uploader, but Pro subscribers get unlimited access — that means you can upload an entire folder of documents and photos in one fell swoop.
We hope you dig the new features, and, as always, drop us an e-mail or post your comments with your thoughts on the Pro plan and any other new feature ideas you’ve got on your mind.

Nice prices and features!
The “Pay as you go” system, is 99c each file forever, or 99c each file per month?
April 24th, 2007 at 12:43 am
Wow, it’s not expensive at all!

Simply great ! I’m loving DivShare a lot, i think the payment plan is godd, expecially the 99 cent per file. Keep up the good work

Very Nice.. So cheap in price..
Thank you so much guys..

Looking good - though I do wonder if it might be an idea to have an “introductory” offer for those who ARE prepared to commit for longer.
Perhaps something more in line with Megauploads $69.99 for two years or $199 lifetime.
Obviously divShare is much better (!!) - but you do have to attract people based on price as well as quality.
In my particular case joining up would also depend on the solving of the problem of not currently being able to see Raw image files as thumnails or as part of a Gallery.

I better use megaupload if I need to pay that price.

Divshare now looking like a realistic hosting option
I’ve been using DivShare for a while now to host a lot of the images on this site and some large download files. It’s been a great service, totally reliable, fast speeds and a really nice, clean interface. Recently they released some nice…

If I choose “Pay As You Go” and upload 10 files, can I then decide to delete two or three of those files and replace them with two or three different ones?
April 24th, 2007 at 8:06 am
Leandro: The pay as you go feature is 99 cents as a one-time fee, not recurring each month. To Colin: we can’t refund or transfer upload credits that you have used, but you can get a refund on any unused upload credits if you decide not to use them within 24 hours of your purchase.
Thanks for the great feedback so far, keep it comin’!

[…] Last night, DivShare launched their DivShare pro accounts that they had mentioned were coming. Most people will probably be satisfied with the free account option, but just in case, the Pro accounts have a lot of great features and an attractive price that makes it worth it. […]

i recommend having a yearly subscription plan at a discounted rate. that way people won’t have to worry about paying $10 a month and losing access to the premium features if they forget to pay it.
i would think that you can make substantially more money by offering that plan. it would also make divshare look like it was in for the long haul, rather a fly by month (lol!) operation.
a lenient return policy for the plan would help seal the deal for many if you could get a refund on the months that you didn’t use.
April 24th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Awesome! If only I had a paypal account… The pay-as-you go feature is pretty unique, as I haven’t encountered one site that offers such a service. Oh, right, more ideas:
A divshare widget; something to integrate into Netvibes, Google Homepage, or numerous other ajax homepages. This would allow a simple upload and maybe a way to browse our files off site.
I left a few others on past bloggings, in case you overlooked them.
April 24th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
Sounds good, but yearly subscription would be more convinient.
One question: what will happend with those “up to 2gb” files when subscription ends?
p.s.
Could you guys add search within group? and internal group folders? it’s hard to find right file fast when group have more then 20files.
April 25th, 2007 at 4:36 am
As previously mentioned I would prefer a long-term option - preferably 2 years or more at a discount.
However were that not to be offered for some reason, and I did opt for the $9.95 a month (no commitment) option - what would happen under the following scenario -
…… for a few months I had a lot of files to upload, but then none for a period of a few months. If I cancelled my monthly subscription for a spell before subscribing again when I did have files to upload again - during the period I suspended the subscription would all my files remain on site under the “unlimited free basis” or would they be deleted??
April 25th, 2007 at 5:48 am
The Premium service looks really good. But I definitely agree about the yearly subscription. It’s the only thing that’s missing really. Most services seem to offer that option to committed users. It feels more secure and also avoids the nuisance of monthly payments. Any chance Divshare? Pleeease?
April 25th, 2007 at 10:47 am
What’s up guys,
Thanks as always for your feedback — we’ve just added an option to subscribe annually for $79.95 per year. That’s a savings of more than 33%, and it comes out to just $6.67 per month. You can check out the new option on the Pro order page.
Keep those comments coming! Also, for questions on our refund and cancellation policies, check out the DivShare support page.
April 26th, 2007 at 2:31 am
Good! In principle I welcome the annual payment option - but await the solving of the Raw image display problem before it will be effective for me.
I would like to try the premium features though, so will sign up for monthly option for a month or two, and await developments on the image display.

While I appreciate all the bells and whistles by your site.. I do NOT like the flash movie player.. I think we should have the choice whether or not we want our vid files to stream.. is there a choice and I haven’t seen it? Also I don’t see where I can disable the email notification from y’all “your vid is ready”. I don’t care about this feature and I know others who are having trouble also with downloading the original file. Is there a way to disable this feature?
I know this is off topic.
April 26th, 2007 at 8:27 am
Lynn: Thanks for your feedback. We decided against providing the option to disable flash conversion, as we wanted to limit the clutter on the upload pages and make the process as seamless as possible - which is also why we provide the download link to the original video file directly under the flash player on all the download pages. To avoid the flash conversion, we recommend zipping up the file, which will not only not put it in the flash player, but also provide a condensed file size for quicker downloads.
Feel free to shoot us an email (support@divshare.com) with any questions relating to this or anything else.
April 27th, 2007 at 6:13 pm
Hello there,
I would like to say that it’s kind of annoying always having to wait for the flash player to load finish before it stream. Is there any way to prevent this?
Also, why does the video player has fixed dimension?
April 29th, 2007 at 1:20 pm
Did y’all know that it’s impossible delete a folder when there are files deleted by DuvShare inside…
April 29th, 2007 at 2:41 pm

So it seems there is a catch with the monthly pricing plan. While the $9.95/mo is way more attractive than 99¢ per file. 10 files is already almost $10. Where as $9.95/mo you can already upload more than 10 files. If you guys stop your monthly or even yearly Pro plan. All of your files larger than 200MB will be removed. So much for the “Files stay online forever!” -seem like it doesn’t apply to the Pro package users. Now if you do want your larger files to stay online forever, even after you cancel your Pro package plan. You will have to pay an ADDITIONAL 99¢ per file. So over the course of the month, or year. All those large files that you uploaded, now if you want ot keep them, you’ll need to pay them as if you were never a Pro user. Isn’t that just great? Where’s the discount incentive for Pro users? The bill will get so ugly if Pro users still have to pay at the premium price of 99¢ per file to keep them online forever, specially if they have uploaded over 100 files. That’s freakin’ $99 + the previous monthly charges.
This mean, if you uploaded 100 2GB files and pay $99. They’re kept online forever. Or if you uploaded 100 2GB files and pay $9.95/mo for 10 months ($99.50). They’re only kept for that long, 10 months. Once your account is over, you’ll have to pay an additional $99 to keep those 100 2GB files.
So what this mean is:
Go Pro monthly/yearly plan if you plan to upload massive amount of large files and don’t want to keep them later on. However, if you do want to keep them, you must maintain your account at all times or say goodbye to all the files larger than 200MB.
Go the 99¢ per file plan, if you want to keep files larger than 200MB. To make the most use out of it, make sure it’s a full 2GB file, otherwise uploading a 201MB file is an expensive $1.
April 30th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
There seems to be a problem with uploading.
Over the last few days, I have tried to upload different format of video, and zip files, but it kept returning error and asked please upload at least one image.
The failure rate is really high. I got this “error” 5-6 times in a row.
