Embed DivShare MP3s on your site
As promised, here’s the second installment of our new streaming MP3 feature — a player that you can embed in your blog, profile, or anywhere else on the web! You’ll find the code as a new Sharing Option on all your MP3 download pages, and you can check out a live example right here:
Nice, right? Expect to see a couple more player design tweaks tomorrow, and drop us some links in the comments to show us where you’ve installed the player for your DivShare music. In the coming week, we’ll be introducing a lot of cool new features, so stay tuned, and fill us in with all your comments on the new player.
(By the way, if you like that song above, check out Keith’s site to hear the whole album.)
Update, 1/29: We’ve made some tweaks and changes to the MP3 player programming and code over the last 24 hours, so if you’ve already posted one on your site, head back to the download page for your file and grab the new code. Your old code will still work, but the new version is optimized for streaming multiple files and making everything run a little smoother. Enjoy!

January 29th, 2007 at 8:31 am
Is it available? I still see the old one and I can’t find the sharing code…
January 29th, 2007 at 12:07 pm
Suny: You can find the embed link on any MP3 download page under the Sharing options.
Enjoy!
January 29th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
Sorry, I can’t find it.. I only see the old page. I tried Firefox and Opera and I always clean cache when I close browsers but I can’t see the new options… I don’t know why…
Check the screenshot on your file page:

Hey Suny,
You were right, it was still not enabled for some users. It’s only now, so check it out on any MP3 download page!

Ok, now I can see the code, tnx
But the player is still the old one in the download page?
January 29th, 2007 at 2:19 pm
I can’t see the code in my filez
January 29th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
It seems that the embed link is showing on the download page, but not when you click ’show’ next to the file on the dashboard.
January 29th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
Hi Dave. I have an issue with the player with Opera, FF, and IE. When you click play it seems to buffer, but not play. The only way I can get it to play is drag the button one second in to the song. Hope you get it fixed, nice feature!
January 29th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
Hmm ignore me, it works. You can delete both of these comments. Sorry.

[…] Back in December I blogged about divShare, and how it has the potential to be a strong rapid share competitor. Today they’ve introduced a feature to embed audio in your website, making it a very unique file sharing website. A week ago or so, they announced you could upload MP3 files and stream them from their server. In that post they announced the ability to embed the songs is in the near future, but today it’s a reality. The player is very sleek, and uses Macromedia’s flash to play the audio file. An example of the player can be found below. […]
January 30th, 2007 at 4:11 am
The MP3 player is brilliant - but a few little queries.
1) When playing there seem to be two different clickable areas to pause - the ‘normal’ pause symbol and a back arrow. I assumed the back arrow was to replay from the beginning - but in my browser play resumes from where one left off (i.e. both clickable areas produce identical result).
2) The expanding blue area acting as a progress meter is elegant - except that in my browser (Slimbrowser) the blue fills the area long before the track ends - in fact after only about one third has played.
3) Often the track refuses to start playing. Seems that if one tries a different track and then comes back to the first - it will often play then. Mayber divShare is starting to have bandwidth/connection probs?
January 30th, 2007 at 12:54 pm
I do apologise! The above post refers to the player on Download pages - not to the embedded version which I have not tried!
January 30th, 2007 at 1:58 pm
Jeremy:
1. The back arrow is supposed to bring you back to the beginning, not sure why that wouldn’t be working in your browser, but if anyone else is having the same experience let us know.
2. The blue progress meter actually indicates download progress, not progress through the time of the song. So when the song is fully buffered, the area becomes fully blue.
3. We’re not having bandwidth probs :), but before yesterday there was a glitch that only allowed you to stream one MP3 at a time off the server. Now, that should be all fixed, so go crazy.
January 30th, 2007 at 3:41 pm
Thanks Rob!
1. Still (intermittently) getting the behaviour of not returning to beginning - sometimes does, sometimes just goes ‘back a bit’, sometimes restarts from where it left off!
2. Now I understand! Perhaps you could have a similar ‘upload’ meter - for all files (maybe you have - I haven’t uploaded for a few days).
3. Excellent.

can this be embedded in vB boards that have their html turned off? If not, will there be a vB implementation of this?
(Sorry if this is a dumb question.)
January 30th, 2007 at 9:12 pm
Hi, it would be great if a smaller version of the Flash player could be released…
January 31st, 2007 at 5:59 am
Blogger doesn’t accept de code because it wants the closing tag for the embed tag!
So please, place just before
After that it works allright!
January 31st, 2007 at 6:01 am
</embed></object>
January 31st, 2007 at 4:23 pm
Trendmatcher: We’ve added the closing embed tag, so the code should work out of the box on Blogger now.
January 31st, 2007 at 5:36 pm
It would be nice to add such a featrue also for the video content
January 31st, 2007 at 6:18 pm
konhEm: It’s on the way in the near future.
January 31st, 2007 at 8:26 pm
Just wondering, how do I get this to autoplay? I have been trying to use the autostart=True but it doesn’t work. Also, if you could build playlists and use them that would be awesome!
January 31st, 2007 at 8:29 pm
Also if the player would show the name of the song that is playing!
February 1st, 2007 at 2:59 am
hi there
I try to paste the embed code in my webpage

Another request for an autoplay option — tried hacking it as autoplay or autostart but neither seemed to work. Thanks
February 2nd, 2007 at 4:34 pm
I was just wondering why the embedded players don’t show the name of the mix or track?
February 3rd, 2007 at 12:12 am
Hey DJ EX4: The way we currently have it setup is it just displays the filename - which hopefully resembles the name of the mix or track. But that is a good point, and we’ll put it on our list to check out displaying track info.
The feedback is much appreciated. Thank you!
February 3rd, 2007 at 1:53 am
Hey the only flaw in this player is that it is not able to show the name of the song playing. But overall this player rocks!
If this minor change could be amended, then this player will seriously outshine the others.
February 3rd, 2007 at 2:15 am
Oh yeah by btw,can e player play multiple songs at once?
February 3rd, 2007 at 2:15 am
Sorry,I meant accomodate e amount of songs. How many songs can e player store?
February 3rd, 2007 at 1:24 pm
This is awesome!
Now I’m absolutely satisfied with DivShare!!!
Cheers!
February 4th, 2007 at 10:39 am
Hey, to add the file name or anything you want to add ad the name of the file all you have to look for “&myTitle=” in the code. It will display anything you put after this.
February 5th, 2007 at 8:57 am
Yeah I see it now,thx The X!
February 5th, 2007 at 8:57 am
But wait, the font is too big.I cant seem to look at e whole title of the song while it plays.Any suggestions?
February 9th, 2007 at 6:53 am
Hhhm, I don’t see the vode for player…..
Check this: http://www.divshare.com/download/113597-381
February 9th, 2007 at 7:04 am
Ah and now it is there. Thx!
February 9th, 2007 at 7:06 am
No it is not….. Again I can’t see the embed code.
February 9th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
There is a limit on how any characters you can display. Also I haven’t figured out how to change the font. I don’t know if doing the usual HTML font tagging will work with this or not. so it would be cool if you could scroll the song name.
I would stilll like to use an M3U playlist so I only have to have one player on my page and have it go through a few different songs. Anyone have an idea as to how to do this?
February 9th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
Other thing, I don’t think anyone can actually download the song from the player even though it saids download. Is this on purpose?
February 9th, 2007 at 11:43 pm
Autoplay???
February 14th, 2007 at 3:33 am
It’s great guys!
February 18th, 2007 at 1:16 am
One other issue, not a huge deal but still an issue, for some reason I can post two embedded players in my bulletin posts on Myspace and in my regular email via Hotmail, but, one shows the name of the file other says undefined and at the end of the second player this shows up:
oneClick = 1; function singleClick() { if (oneClick == 1) { oneClick = 0; setTimeout(”oneClick = 1;”,3000); return true; } else { return false; } }
Not sure what that is but it’s kind of annoying. I send out bulletins each week for downloading two half hour mix sets from a dj I promote DJ C-Vaughn of Kansas City, it’s for his FM Radio show Liquid Buzz in Kansas City, you used one of his mixes for an example for the new preview button update.
February 20th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
So where’s the embed code? Looked at the download page on Firefox, etc. I tried everything and got nothing. Can you publish a permanent link responding to this FAQ?
February 20th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
John, et al: Sorry for the continued problems finding the code on the page. It should be one of the sharing options for every MP3, right between “site link” and “forum link.” If you’re not seeing it there, can you post a screenshot of the page for me so I can look into the issue in more detail? Thanks!

[…] After you upload a file, you follow a link to your dashboard, where you can see all the files in your DS account — including the ones you uploaded outside of WP. Each file has a bunch of “insert” links — images allow you to insert all three sizes (full-size, 400-pixel size, or 130-pixel thumbs) and MP3s allow you to embed our Flash player into your post. For all other files, you can insert a text link that includes the file’s description and name. Check it out: […]

How about video embedding? I am real estate agent and every time i send the link to my client they usually tell me they can’t download the file, or they are just usually in a hurry and can’t wait for a few seconds to download the video file.
I think it’s much better if the video is viewable via embedded player. Thanks alot! More power to all of you guys, Thank You for the free service you are offering. You are all a very big help.

great site, very handy, the mp3 player would be handy if you could select a drop down menu within the player and play any mp3 in that folder.
also video stream like youtube would be a nice feature.
April 9th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
Guys, lovely site and all…but how come so many of us are struggling to find the “embed” code? How about a nice, clear, visible answer?
I appreciate any help.
April 9th, 2007 at 7:20 pm
Great idea. My only comment after testing it out is that the player will only play the embedded MP3 if the player is focused in the window. If I scroll down the page until the player is no longer visible in my browser window, or if I switch over to another Firefox tab, the music “pauses” (no longer streaming, can’t hear it) until I refocus the window on the player.
April 13th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
The embed link does show up on the share box, however it’s never a complete filename. I tried adding the thing someone suggested above but that didn’t work. A friend who I shared the link with said the entire link shows up on his screen but for some reason for me the embed link is always the only one in the share box that is incomplete and ends like this:

The common issue here is that THE EMBED CODE IS MISSING.
Why are so many people having this problem.
This player has been available since January 07 and 4 months later looks like the problem is not addressed?
Fix that shit.
