Great service!
I’d like the option to add a new image to a previous gallery and also a little thumbnail in dashboard for pictures…

I think we should have forum links to the “full images” if possible. Right now, the full image link is for HTML, and the Forum link users thumbnails.

DivShare: Upload and Share your files
I caught a posting about DivShare on an RSS feed December 23 and surfed over to check it out. I wanted to share more files on 360 but didn’t want to pull them from my other server at the time.
DivShare seems like quite a ‘find’ in m…

I’m curious as to DivShare’s business model; I LOVE the idea of the service, I just don’t see how it can be self-sustaining, and I’d like to know that if I use it, I can count on it being around. As the web in general becomes aware of DivShare, can it continue to exist and grow under the weight that will likely be placed on it? Can it handle a couple of million users with a few meg or a gig each? Can it handle the bandwidth as well as the storage requirements?
I sure hope so! It certainly looks great so far!

I believe that a forum should be in order, to get ideas out into the public domain and pre-evaluate certain ideas that may be queued in development. But besides the point, I have (like many) ideas. Oh such ideas I have!
Categories, tagging, or folders (or all three, haha) could be put into place to manage files. I hold certain preference to tagging, because of its web 2.0-ishness, but any method of organization would be nice. I believe this needs no further explanation.
A more intuitive way of uploading could also be used. Instead of an “uploading…” text being displayed, that space can be used to show the percent completed, number of files already uploaded in a queue (1/4 files uploaded, et cetera), or various others.
File privacy, applicable with those used to backup sensitive data, is also a big, simple feature that could be implemented to enrich this service. Passworded files could also be used to share with a private crowd, rather than leaving collaborations or the like suspectible to the masses.
A multimedia player could be added to display previews or whole movie/music files on the download page. Picture slideshows (I’ve yet to test your gallery function, mind) could be used to streamline galleries.
A stand-alone uploader/downloader application would be great. Compare to the Mega Manager over at MegaUpload.com, it is very useful.
Security wise, it seems your files are not dynamically created in the sense that they are easily accessible without navigating to the download page. For example, a picture I uploaded is displayed on the download page, but viewing it I find a easily dissected address: [root]/uploads/files/year#/month#/day#/(random 5 digit number)/file name.ext (merely an observation)
I’m sure we all have suggestions on how to make this service better. I think you should take heed and invest in a forum (I, personally, despise the informality of a blog comment). I’m sure other people have suggestions far better than mine–or more practical, for that matter.
But I don’t expect the world from a service in its infancy. After all, this is just the beginning, right? Hopefully I can get the word out to the visitors of my blog, and get my friends to blog about it too–because, after all, email is extinct when you have a blog-ring!–and maybe more people can catch on to this great service.
Again, thanks for providing such an excellent service for the internet, and the people thereof. Hopefully this site will prosper in its own regards.
